Christopher Peters

Christopher Wayne Peters, 67, of Apison, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 at his home. He was born Oct. 4, 1950 in Atlanta, and was a graduate of East Atlanta High School. In 1972, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Georgia State University. Wayne was preceded in death by his father, James Dixon Peters, of Atlanta; and his grandparents, William Oliver and Mary Caledonia Owen, of Fruithurst, Ala.; and Edgar Wesley and Rosa Eva Peters of Lake Wales, Fla. After college, he worked as a construction foreman and Assistant Building Superintendent in Atlanta, Ga. coordinating and managing large crews in commercial construction and development. He became production manager for Automated Building Components before joining Peters and Associates, Engineers, as office manager. In 1986, Wayne became inventory control manager for Robinson Cadillac until he took early retirement to provide full time care for his father. Wayne was blessed by a strong work ethic and astute mind. His attention to minute details made him gifted in building model airplanes, cars and trucks, one of his favorite hobbies. He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to his family. He was survived by his mother, Linnie Owen Peters, of Apison; brother, Randall H. (Marty) Peters of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Gaila Jean Peters Pettway (Robert), of McDonald, Tenn.; nephew, James Wesley (Allison) Peters of Knoxville; niece, Amanda Kathleen (Michael) Woodruff of Monroe, Ga.; aunt Martha “Reenie” Owen Ginn of Fruithurst, Ala.; great nieces and nephews, Ethan and Hannah Peters, and Ava, Garrett, Sadie, Lyla, Maddie and Ellis Woodruff of Monroe, Ga. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Upper Cane Creek Church, Fruithurst, Ala., on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at 1 p.m. CST with the Reverends David Ginn, James Owens, and Ronnie Williams officiating, with music by Scott Ginn. Wayne will lie in state 1 hour before the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Upper Cane Creek Cemetery.
