Lula Mae Hunter

Lula Mae Spratling Hunter departed this earthly life on June 15, 2018, in a local health care facility. She was born July 4, 1929, to the late Willie B. Hines Jones and Willie Kimble. Lula was a member of the 1946 graduating class of Howard High School and was previously employed with Erlanger Hospital, Hinkle Photography Studio, and with Mr. and Mrs. Sam I. Yarnell for many years. She was a faithful member of Tucker Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board for many years until overcome by illness. Lula was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Nathaniel Hunter Sr; son, Tony Hunter; stepdaughter, Willie A. Robinson; sisters, Mattie Pearl Dunham, Charlie Mae Neely, and Marion Overall. Those left to cherish her precious memories are her daughter, Rosemary Hunter Armour, Decatur Ga.; sons, Nathaniel (Karen) Hunter Jr., Boise, Idaho, Larry V. Hunter and David A. Hunter, both of Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The body will lie-in-state from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
