Kent Rader

Kent Holmes Rader, 81, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018. He was a native of Woodville, Okla., and lived in Soddy-Daisy since 1974. Kent was of the Baptist faith. He served his country in the U.S. Navy retiring after 20 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Kent worked for the Soddy-Daisy Post Office for 12 years and owned and operated a small engine repair business at the Western Auto. He loved working on lawn mowers and automobiles and was a Mopar Man. A big history buff, he enjoyed reading. Kent always liked hanging out with his friends. You never knew what he was going to say but it always came from his heart. A true animal lover, he is leaving a faithful companion, “Prince Harry”. Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Irene Rader; brother, Eddie Von Rader and sister, Vicky Jo Rader. Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Mary B. Posey Rader; daughter, Dana Rae Lively and husband, Michael P.; sisters, Linda Marlar of Garland, TX, Donna Hare, of Denison, TX and Sherry Boehme and husband Bill, of Corpus Christi, TX; brothers, Ronald Rader, of Euless, TX and Larry Rader, of Denison, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Those attending the graveside service need to meet at the funeral home at 12 p.m. to be in the funeral procession leaving at 12:15 p.m. to the cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Special thanks to the staff of Tennessee Oncology and Dr. Derek Holland for all their care during Kent’s battle.
