Barry Crawford

RINGGOLD — Barry Lamar Crawford, 65, formerly of Dalton, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at his home. Lamar had a strong will, good attitude, upbeat and mischievous. He loved to fish and ride dirt bikes. He spent many good times with his brother and son at Jack’s River fishing and just hanging out. He loved to spend time with his family, especially special dinners and holidays. For many years he wore the Santa Claus hat while passing out Christmas gifts at his parents’ home until his nephew Luke was old enough to take his place. He attended City Park School, Pleasant Grove and North Whitfield High School. He was a very good Track Athlete in high school as he was small and swift. He began his working career in the textile industry in maintenance before joining his daddy working at Crawford Radio and T.V., Inc. His life’s desire was to drive an over the road truck. He trained with Averitt Trucking, Cookeville, Tenn. He had a stroke in January of 2016 and retired from Atlantic Bulk Carriers of Dalton, Ga. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. John and Ollie Kenemer Williamson; and Carl Wilce and Effie Souther Crawford. He is survived by his wife, Kendrall Smith Crawford; son, Mickey Lamar (Kelley) Crawford; grandsons, Taylor and Zachary Crawford; stepdaughter, Tami (Tony) Powroznik; grandson, Kyle Powroznik; parents, Bobby and Sue Williamson Crawford; Brother, Johnny (Allison) Crawford; nephew, Luke Crawford; nieces, Ruth and Abigail Crawford; special friends, Tony Bartczak, Ed and Amanda Farr, Jackie Mosteller, Joe Neal, Thomas Wilcox, Eric Wood, and Sara Hahn. Memorial services to celebrate the life of Barry Crawford will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, from Cohutta First Baptist Church 103 King Street Cohutta, Ga., with Rev. John Bagley officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemtery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at Cohutta First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cohutta First Baptist Church P.O. Box 300 Cohutta, GA 30710.
