James Gravitt

SCOTTSBORO — Mr. James Edward Gravitt, 90, passed away Friday Sept. 7, 2018. The memorial services will be held Tuesday Sept. 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Longshore Cemetery at Collinsville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Mr. Gravitt is survived by his wife, Emma Longshore Gravitt; son, Steve (Joanna) Gravitt; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, three sisters, Lee Corell, Thora Ware and Nina (Bill)Payne; brothers in laws, Jimmy and Ronald Longshore; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve and John Gravitt; son, Stanley M. Gravitt and a sister, Johnnie (Hoyt) Condra. Mr. Gravitt was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, worked for Revere, and retired from Norandal. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation in his name to the Veterans Memorial Park of Scottsboro.
