John Breen

John Michael Breen, MD FACOG, longtime resident of Signal Mountain TN, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 in Tucson AZ. Dr. Breen, age 64, recently relocated to Tucson AZ to be closer to his daughter, son-in-law, and his two grandchildren, Bennett and Olive. He was a graduate of University of Arizona, University of the East, Manila, Philippines, and was trained at Albany Medical Center, Albany NY. Michael was an accomplished physician, surgeon and teacher. He was Chairman of the OBGYN Residency Program at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN and an Associate Professor at University of TN, College of Medicine. For twenty years he was a Medical Board Examiner. He started the first OBGYN Residency at the University of Texas in Edinburg, TX where he was a Professor. Michael was passionate about his family and his medical practice. Over the years he taught and encouraged many young surgical residents. He will be remembered for his many accomplishments and the great care he gave to his family and patients. Dr. Breen was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Alexandra Breen, who passed away on March 10, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Valentine Breen, his two daughters Sarah B. Vogelei of Tucson, AZ and Kathleen B. Arenas of Belgrade, MT; his parents James L. Breen, MD and Doris M. Breen of Hilton Head Island, SC and siblings Nash Breen, Ann Harr, Laura Tompkins, Barbara Weir Martin, Beth Breen and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday, August 23rd, at 10:30 a.m. at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, Chattanooga TN. Interment will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
