Fred Linam

FORT OGLETHORPE — Fred A. Linam, 93, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, in a local health care facility. Fred was born in Cleveland, Tenn., and spent most of his life in the North Georgia and Chattanooga area. He was of the Baptist faith, loved to hunt and fish, and served in the U.S. Navy. During WWII Fred was a Coxswain aboard an LST663 in the Pacific and he had a deep love for the Filipino people. He worked 36 years at Ernest Holmes and10 years at Century Wrecker. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Linam; parents, Earnest and Elmira Morgan; three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his children, Randy (Dianne) Linam and Sandy (Tim) Moore; grandchildren, Brandon (Britanie) Moore, Bob Linam and Bridget Moore; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Revs. John Tudor and Jason Haney officiating.
