Edward Buckner

ROGERSVILLE — Edward Allen “Eddie” Buckner passed away on July 1, 2019, with his family by his side after a long and well-fought battle with Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy. Eddie was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., on May 1, 1945, to Reuben Buckner and Jeanne Austin Hitching who preceded him in death. Eddie graduated from Chattanooga High School and attended North Georgia College. He was a master farrier by trade. As a farrier he was much sought after working on farms and ranches from coast to coast. He was known for being able to fit any horse with the perfect shoe. His love and biggest clientele were the American Saddlebreds. Eddie had formerly lived in Connelly Springs, N.C., and LaFayette, Ga. Upon moving to Rogersville, Eddie and Mary Joyce joined Spires Chapel Baptist Church and attended with much devotion as long as his health permitted. Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Mary Joyce Buckner and son Allen (Carly) Buckner of Olympia, Wash.; sisters, Linda (Sion) Moss, of North Carolina, Carol Tye, of Chattanooga, Susan Darling, of Chickamauga, and Mary Elsie Brown, of Rogersville; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his uncle, Cecil (Theresa) Buckner, of Flintstone, Ga.; and numerous cousins many of whom live in Rogersville. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday (7/2/19) at Spires Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow with Rev. John North officiating. Burial will follow in McKinney Cemetery. Christian-Sells Funeral Home is serving the family. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.christiansells.com
