Robert Boggild

NEW HOPE — Robert Boggild (Bob) 96, flew off into glory July 13, 2019. Bob served in the Army - Air Force and Army in WWII on the Manhattan Project with the Special Engineer Detachment in Oak Ridge and the Philippines. He was an engineer, pilot, sailor, and inventor. Bob Held 21 Patents, the most well-known being the Play-Doh Fun Factory which became one of the top 100 toys of all time. He loved big bands of the 40’s and his favorite song,”Always” by Irving Berlin, which was his tribute to his wife (chigger). He was an avid South Pittsburg Pirate football fan, “Go Pirates!” and of the Protestant faith. He was preceded in deah by his parents, Axel and Maja Boggild of Odense, Denmark and Trumbull, CT. He is survived by his wife, Madge Elizabeth; son, Rod of Cincinatti, OH; daughters, Candace and Susan of New Hope, TN; sister, Doris Litke of Hartford, CT; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, cousins in the U.S. and in Denmark. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Little Brown Church on Signal Mountain.
