Anonino Piccolo

It is with great sadness that the family of Anonino “Nino” Piccolo announces that he passed away in Italy on March 18, 2019, with his daughter by his side. Born Oct. 22, 1941, Nino arrived in The United States in 1966. He graduated from the University of Nebraska. He practiced architecture for many years in Chattanooga. He decided to share his love for the Italian cuisine by opening The “Pastaria” Italian Restaurant in 2004. Nino was a recipient of a live-donor liver transplant at VCU; his gracious donor was his then son-in-law, Kevin A. Schrumpf, and the family can never repay him for the extra fifteen years that he gave Nino. Nino will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his father, Francesco Piccolo and his mother Angela Miceli, both of Carlentini, Sicily. He is survived by his two sisters on Carlentini, Sicily, Concetta and Fina Piccolo; his previous wife of 45 years, Elvia Piccolo; his son, Mario Piccolo; his daughter, Cristina PIccolo; and his grandchildren: Austin (Abigail), Gabriela and Julia Piccolo. Nino will be laid to rest next to his parents in Sicily, as he’d wished, and a celebration of his life will be announced at a later day within the Chattanooga area.
