Charlotte Abney

Charlotte Alice Abney, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away on May 14, 2019. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Gran. Charlotte was a member of Lookout Valley Baptist Church. She loved to go shopping especially S&P estate sales. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edwin Gilbert, Jr and Catherine Pate; brothers, Emory Gilbert and Donald Gilbert, and Warner “Bump” Pate, Douglas Pate, and Dickie Pate. Left behind to cherish Charlotte’s memory are her husband, Billy J. Abney; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Richard Blevins, Kelley and Tony Boyd; granddaughters, Ashley Boyd and Madison and Matthew Crownover; all of Chattanooga, sister-in-law, Jeanette Pate, Hilliard, Fla.; and several family and friends. A Celebration of Charlotte’s Life will be held in the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday May 16, 2019, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday. She will be laid to rest in the Lakewood Memory Gardens West.
