Louise Randall

Louise Salmond Randall, 82, entered into her heavenly reward Sunday, May 19 at Morning Pointe of Hixson, her home of just 6 months, surrounded by her family. Louise was born in Chattanooga on December 27, 1936 to the late Henry Cook Salmond and Nona Lee Shelley Salmond. Louise was a 1954 graduate of Chattanooga High School. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, whom she met on a blind date in 1956. A long distance romance ensued with Louise in Tenn. and George in S.C. Their love grew through their frequent correspondence with one another and when George’s Army service called him to Monterrey, Calif., he asked her to be his bride and come with him. They were married in April, 1957 and their honeymoon was their driving trip to Monterrey, Calif. When George’s service was completed, they made their home in Camden, S.C. where their first child, George, Jr. was born. Shortly thereafter, George’s work moved them to Richmond, Va., where their second child, Diana was born. After a short time in Va., Louise’s roots in Chattanooga, Tenn., called her home, and George put in for a transfer. From 1966 on, Louise and George called Chattanooga, Tenn. home where they raised their two children. Once their children went to school, Louise went back to work. She served St. Paul’s Episcopal Church as parish secretary for 14 years. Following that, she served as parish secretary to many of the other Episcopal churches in the Chattanooga area. Louise and George were founding members of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church and made St. Alban’s their church home for the rest of their lives. Louise served St. Alban’s as chair of the Altar Guild for many years, and as a member of the choir. Louise is survived by her two children, George (Stephanie) Randall, Jr. and Diana (Marty) Skates; grandchildren Pam (Daniel) Beeler, Mike (Amber) Skates, Andrew (Stephanie) Randall, Thomas Bevering, Matthew Randall, Christopher Randall, Aaron Skates, and Shelley Skates; and great grandchildren Brock, Crymson, Levi, and Abby. She is also survived by her brothers, Thomas (Rebecca) Salmond, and Charles (Colleen) Salmond and her step siblings Becky (Otis) Schmitt, Alta Ruth (Gene) Ebert, Michael (Sara) Love, Thomas (Kay) Love, Mary (Keith) Crawford and Ted Love. Hugh B. Jones, Jr. presiding. Louise’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends the evening prior, Tuesday, May 21 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at St. Alban’s.
