Josephine Fulton

Josephine Angle Lamb Fulton, of Daytona Beach, Fla., passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2010.She was born in Gadsden, Ala., Aug. 28, 1920, the daughter of Joseph Newton Angle and Maggie Clara McMurrain Angle. Jo was preceded in death by husbands, James Houston Lamb Jr. and William L. Fulton; five brothers; and a sister, Edna Lokey.She leaves behind two daughters, Peggy Lamb Rice, of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla. and Kathy Lamb, of Farragut, Tenn.; sister, Emma John Buchanan, of Anniston, Ala. and Norton, Mass.; grandchildren, Brett Rice, Kimball Rice, Elizabeth Utsey, Patricia Rice and Katy Biggs-Hale. "Mama Jo," as she was lovingly known, had eight great-grandchildren, Kimball II, Joseph and Jacob Rice; Maggie and Alex Utsey; Treyston Biggs, Michael Hale and Katelyn Biggs; and three great-great-grandsons, Ethan, Brandon and Aiden Rice. She will be deeply missed and remembered by her extended family and many friends. During WWII Jo was a volunteer Red Cross nurses aid, sold Luzier cosmetics, and studied art at Hunter Art Gallery, Chattanooga. She was a long time member of the Garden Club and created exceptional cakes from her bake shop. Jo and her daughter Kathy moved to Anniston, Ala., and resided in the guest house of "Camwood" on Woodstock Ave. While there she was a Buyer in the gift department of Hudsons Department store. Jo moved to Knoxville, with her husband Bill, who was an engineer for the Tennessee Valley Authority. She was a Life Master with ACBL and taught Bridge for over 30 years. She also enjoyed creating holiday dcor items. She loved to entertain and treated everyone as "visiting royalty." She was a gracious hostess and the definition of a Southern Lady.Jo was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Grace Episcopal Church, Chattanooga and Church of the Good Samaritan, Knoxville where she served arranging altar flowers.Funeral services will be at Grace Church, Chattanooga, on Saturday, May 1, at noon with Father James Curtis presiding.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Volusia-Halifax Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129, or the Episcopal Church of your choice.
