Curtis Graves

Curtis Graves Sr., 86, of Chattanooga, departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at the Health Center at Standifer Place.He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and served in the United States Navy. He fought in both World War II and the Korean War.He was born to the late Jessie Lee Graves Sr. and Annie Maude Crumsey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Bell Graves; son, Curtis Graves Jr.; daughter, Bernice Graves; and brother, Jessie Lee Graves Jr.He leaves to mourn his devoted granddaughter, Sharon (Reginald) Coffin, of Haverhill, Mass.; daughter, Lawanda Ann Graves; son, Curtis A. Graves, both of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Yvonne Michelle Graves and Thomas Sands, both of Chattanooga, McSean Graves, of Huntsville, Ala.; cousin, Louise Murphy and devoted friend, Sheryl Heard, both of Chattanooga; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and many friends.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, in the chapel.Interment in National Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
