Henry Byrd

Henry "Buddy" Roland Byrd, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010.Henry was a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area, graduate of Rossville High School and attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He served our country during World War II as a B-17 pilot in the Air Force. Henry was a member of Tyner United Methodist Church and the Thomas Dye Sunday School Class.Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Sherrill Byrd.He is survived by his daughters, Diane Croxall, Signal Mountain and Susan White, Chattanooga; brother, C. W. Byrd, Ringgold, Ga.; granddaughters, Stacey Wright, Telluride, Colo., Justin Croxall, Charleston, S.C., Katy Loyd, Signal Mountain, Jennifer Harbison, Sally White and Mindi Camp, all of Chattanooga; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.In light of the season, the family has chosen to have a private burial and wish for friends to enjoy the Christmas season with their families.The family requests no food or flowers be sent but rather that donations be made in Henrys name to the Alzheimers Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Dr., Suite 8, Chattanooga, TN 37421.Please share your thoughts and memories at www.chattanooganorthchapel.com.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist.
