Kernon McConkey

CLEVELAND Kernon McConkey, 87, a resident of Cleveland for the past few months and formerly of Athens, Tenn., passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in a local hospital.He retired as a lieutenant colonial having served with distinction in the United States Army for 26 years. He was a 32nd-degree Mason.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence B. and Georgia Bennett McConkey; and his first wife, Mary Lena McConkey; brother, Alfred McConkey.He is survived by his wife, Mozelle McConkey; two children, Doris Diane Sarge and husband, John, from Detroit, Mich., and Mary Hart, of Cleveland; one grandchild, Corrina Hart, from Austin, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Asa Horn and Iris Horn, both of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Alice McConkey, of Knoxville; sister, Helen Steele and husband, Charles "C.E."
