DUNLAP George Avery Land, 85, died Monday, July 19, 2010, in a Chattanooga hospital.He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Harrison DD 573. Mr. Land was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Minnie Long Land; brothers, Samuel D. Land and Carl Thomas Land; sisters, Cyretha Lewis and Adel Pitts.Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Faye Stewart Land; sons, Mayor Dwain (Amy) Land and Keith (Stephanie) Land; grandchildren, Jarred Heith Land, Scott McCarver, Madison Chae Land, and Avery Alexanderia Land; brother, Albert "Jr." Land; uncle, Mitchell (Ritia Bess) Land; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. CDT today, July 21, in the Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Randy Harmon and Brother Brian Kearns officiating.Burial in Camp Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network or Camp Cemetery.Online guestbook at www.ewtonfuneralhome.com.Arrangements by Ewton Funeral Home, 6936 Highway 28, Dunlap, TN 37327.
