CHICKAMAUGA Charles A. Lindburg Shannon, 83, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010, at his residence.A lifelong resident of the Walker County area, he was a member of United Church of God in Chattanooga, a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during W.W. II and a former employee of Reserve Warehouse.He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Fannie Mae Cloer Shannon; son, Wallace Shannon, Grandson; Chris Shannon; two brothers, George and Frank Shannon; and four sisters, Ruby Carlock, Frances Hobbs, Lucille Autry and Alice Corbin.He is survived by his wife, Janie Autry Shannon, of Chickamauga; two sisters, Josie Holmes, of Rock Spring, Ga., Tressie Parrish, of Chickamauga; one grandson, Ronnie Shannon, of Flat Rock, Ala.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Rick Beam, Brother Derrell O'Neal and Mr. Roy Holladay officiating.Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens-South.The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today and Sunday until funeral time at the funeral home.Arrangements are by Wilson Funeral Home, J. Avery Bryan Chapel, Chickamauga.
