Gene Ross

Eugene (Gene) G. Ross, Sr., 85, of Soddy Daisy, died September 6, 2010, in a local health care facility.A native of Craigsville, Virginia, Mr. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, James and Alice Ross; two sisters, Beulah Cale and Ethel Ross; and a brother Clarence Ross. Mr. Ross was a member of the Daisy Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps and served his country during World War II. He retired from Chevron Oil and Century Wrecker.He is survived by his wife, Frances M. Ross; four children, Eugene G. Ross, Jr., and wife, Anita, of Whitwell, Alice Stanfield and husband, Gordon, Charles "Dixie" Martin and wife, Yvonne, all of of Soddy Daisy, and Faith J. Cameron of Rossville; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a cherished friend, Missy Colon.Visitation will be today from 4-9 p.m. and Thursday after10 a.m.Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with Freddie Clayton officiating.Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
