LAFAYETTE Bobbie Ruth Martin Bartlett, age 85, beloved mother, grandmother and sister died peacefully in her sleep Monday, September 6, 2010.She was a life-long resident of Walker County, Ga., born January 25, 1925 to Joshua Robert and Jennie King Martin. She graduated from LaFayette High School in 1941 and McKenzie Business College in Chattanooga, TN.She was employed at the Bank of Chickamauga for 35 years before her retirement. She was a member of Gordon Lake Wesleyan Church and had been attending the LaFayette First United Methodist Church for the past several years. She was a member and enjoyed attending Senior Neighbors where she was Treasurer. She was also a former member of the Homemakers Club.Mrs. Bartlett was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, solving crossword puzzles, history, genealogy and quilting.Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Paul K. Martin and James R. Martin; brother-in-law Richard M. Lumpkin; and sister-in-law Geneva Martin. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Charlotte Bartlett, Chickamauga, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Richard Ballard, Jackson, Ga.; grandchildren, John and Amanda Bartlett, Chickamauga, Douglas Ballard, Jackson, Meredith and Jeremy Pickard, LaFayette, and Phillip Bartlett, Chickamauga; great granddaugther, Carolina Bartlett, Chickamauga; sister, Margaret M. Lumpkin, Ringgold; sister-in-law, Tiny T. Martin, LaFayette, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Bobbie Ruth Martin Bartlett will be today, September 8, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the LaFayette First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Moore officiating.She will lie-in-state at the church from 1-2 p.m.Interment will be in the Gordon Lake Cemetery.The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 and this morning until 12 Noon at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial donations be made to the Youth Fund of the LaFayette First United Methodist Church, 301 S.
