William Matteson

William MattesonWilliam Armon "Bill" Matteson, 84, of Soddy-Daisy went home to be with his Lord on Monday, September 6, 2010 at his home. He was a member of Soddy-Daisy First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He retired from AT&T Telephone Company after 38 years of service, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving as a Gunners Mate.He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Sneed Matteson; parents, Andy and Nannie Matteson; sister, Lee Ola Legg.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Games Matteson; son, Bobby Games; daughters, Jan (Paul) Luttrell, Pam (Mike) Madewell; sister, Betty (Pete) Burns; granddaughter, Michael Ann (Bryan) Adams; great-granddaughters, Caroline and Emily Kathy Games (granddaughter of Evelyn); a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, step-sons, step-daughters and step grandchildren.Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Soddy-Daisy First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Madewell and Dr. Seton Tomyn officiating.Mr. Matteson will lie in state from 9-11 a.m. Thursday before the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.Family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 165 Hamm Rd.; Chattanooga, TN. 37405.The family wants to thank Hospice of Chattanooga and a special thanks to his nurse Brenda Creasman.Condolences and memories may be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.Arrangements are by Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, 8852 Dayton Pike, Soddy-Daisy, TN 37379.
