John Ramsey

John Earl Ramsey Sr., 86 of Chattanooga, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011.He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and was a Member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. John served his country in the U.S. Marines during WWII, Pacific Campaign and retired from E.T.&W.N.C. Transport.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be greatly missed.John was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Irene Anderson Ramsey; and sister, Frances Eugenia Ramsey Shipp.He is survived by his children, Jennifer Ramsey, of Ringgold, Cindy Ramsey Adair (Gerry), of Dawsonville, Ga., John Ramsey Jr. (Rita), of Ooltewah, and Mark Ramsey, of Nashville; sister, Marguerite Dorothy Ramsey Brown, of Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 in the funeral home chapel with Brother Bobby Wilson officiating.Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. today and prior to the service on Saturday. Arrangements by W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
