Ruth Groves

CHICKAMAUGA Redith Ruth Autry Groves, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011.She was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Ruth was a nurse for Dr. Fletcher, Dr. McCall and Tri-County before retiring in the late 1970s. Ruth enjoyed being a caretaker of her family, friends, and the roses in her yard. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.Ruth was preceded in death by her husband James "Harlen" Groves; daughter, Shirley Groce; siblings, Bobbie Kellogg, Lee Autry and Clarence Autry.Ruth is survived by her daughters, Faye Selfridge (Henry), of Arizona and Donna Yadon (Dan), of Florida; son, Mike Groves (Judy) of Chickamauga; brother, Ed Autry, of Chickamauga; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec.18, 2011 in the funeral home chapel with Brother Jack Price officiating.Interment will follow at Chickamauga City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. today, all day Saturday and prior to the service on Sunday.Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, J. Avery Bryan Chapel.
