ROCK SPRING Janet "Jan" Marie Howard, 52, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Memorial Hospital.She was a 1977 graduate of Gordon Lee High School.Jan was a lifelong member of Rock Spring United Methodist Church.She was employed for several years and received many awards with the Federal Government, finishing her career at the Missile Defense Agency in Huntsville, Ala.She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Earl and Annie Howard; and maternal grandfather, Dewey Smith; several aunts and unclesJan is survived by her parents, Don and Bernice Howard; brother, Clay (Hope) Howard and her cherished nephew, Christian Howard, of Rock Spring, Ga. Her maternal grandmother, Inez McKaig Smith, Fort Oglethorpe; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends survive Jan.The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday Jan. 1, at Rock Spring United Methodist Church.Service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the church with Rev.
