CHICKAMAUGA Joel David Levan Sr., 89, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011. He was born to the late Samuel Robert and Mattie Margaret Layne Levan on Jan. 11, 1922 in Red Star, Ala. He was a member of Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class, a veteran of the United States Army and he retired from Rockland Psychiatric Center.He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mae Levan; sons, John and Joel "Jay" Levan Jr.; and nine brothers and sisters.Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Levan Ceccotti, of Chickamauga; son, David Levan of Michigan; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church, Chickamauga.Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 2-9 p.m. today and all day Sunday.Online guestbook available at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Chickamauga.
