Elizabeth Hudson

Elizabeth Carter "Bea" Hudson at the age of 89 departed this earthly walk of life on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011.She was born was born on Feb. 28, 1921 in Madison, Ga., to the late Mrs. Ida Bell Carter and Mr. Roy Lee Carter.She moved to Chattanooga, early in her childhood with her family. She was a longtime resident of Fort Cheatham and the Shepherd Community. She accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Greater New Home Baptist Church at its location in Fort Cheatham. She was involved in various ministries of the church including the Missionary Society and was a devoted deaconess and mother of the church. She continued her Christian walk as a member of Greater New Home Baptist Church with the current pastor, Elder G. M. Spotts until her death.Mrs. Hudson graduated from Howard High Schools class of 1939. She met and married the late Raymond Hudson Sr. on Aug. 31, 1947. They produced four children from this union.She was employed in various positions with her last being with Parkridge Hospital as a nursing assistant until she retired.She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted children: Raymond (Eddie) Hudson Jr., of Denver, Colo., Anthony E. (Madeline) Hudson, of Jacksonville, N.C., Michael J. Hudson, of Chattanooga, and Jocelyn H. (Charles) Bryant, of Chattanooga. She also leaves two devoted sisters-in-law, Mable Gray and Frances Hudson; 15 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.Home Going services will be at Greater New Home Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5.Interment at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2011.The body will lie in state after noon today with the family receiving friends from 78 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
