Gladys Mays

Gladys Mae Mays, 81, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at her residence.She was well known in Highland Park and Churchville Community and was a member of Community Fellowship Church. She was employed by Memorial Hospital and Parkridge Hospital for many years, but retired from Hamilton County Nursing Home.She was preceded in death by her parents, Levoy and Odessa Wright; three sons, James Mays, Bobby Mays and Michael Mays; two brothers, Leroy Wright and Melvin Wright; two grandchildren, Tina Smith and Bobby Mays Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Courtney Banks and Doneicia Evans; and grandson-in-law, Edward Carter Jr.Survivors include one son, Gary (Nikki) Mays Sr.; two daughters, Lora (Sylvester) Ammons and Effie (Roy) Smith; devoted grandson, Gary Mays Jr.; daughter-in-law, Annette Mays; two brothers, John Wright, of Marysville, Calif., Andrew Wright, of Chattanooga; two sisters, Mary (James) Foster, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Faye Brantley, of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; two dear family friends, Linda Estes, Gerald Baker and a host of other friends.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Thomas officiating.Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.The body will lie-in-state today after 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
