Ted Childress

Charles Theodore "Ted" Childress, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, in a local hospital. Mr. Childress was a native of Chattanooga and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He graduated from Kirkman High School and UT Knoxville. He retired from TVA after 35 years of service and was a big UT fan.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Nellie Childress; sister, Sue Dewey; and brothers, J.D. Childress and Denton Childress.He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Atheleen (Abbie) Wallace Childress, Chattanooga; daughter, Carol Childress Christian, Marietta, Ga.; brother, Billy Childress, South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Dean officiating.
