Michael Cruty

Michael R. Cruty met with God on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 11, 1941, in Johnson City, N.Y. Michael received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering and his PhD in Physics, from Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. He served with distinction as an officer in The United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of several commendations, including but not restricted to The Navy Achievement Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal and The National Defense Medal. He was the former Technical Director of The Erlanger Cancer Center, Chattanooga, Tenn., and The Lakeland Regional Cancer Center, of Lakeland, Fla. Michael is lovingly survived by his sisters, Anna (John) Connolly, of Peabody, Mass., Mac (Dwight) Porter, of Winchester, Mass.; brother, Robert (Cyndi) Cruty, of Binghamton, N.Y.; a very special cousin, Lee Tinkunas, of Binghamton, N.Y.; and by his lifetime partner, Emery J. Zobro, of Chattanooga, Tenn. Visitation is Tuesday, Mar. 1, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
