Aaron Layne

Jasper Aaron B. Layne, 73, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011.He was retired from the U.S. Navy, was an employee of the city of Jasper, and worked security for the Tennessee Valley Authority. He was a graduate of North Alabama State Junior College with an associate degree in applied science and criminal law. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and a member of the American Legion.He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Bessie Layne; brother, Pleas Layne; and his mother-in-law, Lois Leiderman.Survivors include his wife, Nancy E Layne; son, Aaron "Marty" (Scarlett) Layne, of Manning, S.C.; daughter, Tammy (Todd) Lankes, Lebanon, Tenn; grandchildren, Spencer Thompson, Tabitha and Colton Lankes; Logan Layne; great-grandson, Hayden Thompson; father-in-law, Luther Leiderman; niece, Shannon (Layne) Simms, great-niece and nephew, Jay and Chelsea Simms.Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. CST Sunday, Jan. 16, 2010, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev Billy Rankin officiating.The family will receive friends for visitation today, Jan. 15, from 2 until 8 p.m.Interment will follow at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, donations to the Jasper VFW 6362.Condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.tatefh.com.Arrangements are by Tate Funeral Home, Jasper. 423-942-9500.
