James Smith

James Taylor Smith, 85, of Lupton City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at his home.He was born July 1, 1925 in Jackson County, Ala., to the late Amos and James Joseph Smith.Mr. Smith was a member of Lupton Drive Baptist Church and was retired from Dixie Yarns with 39 1/2 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II.His son, James Gilbert Smith; sister, Emma Fowler; and brother-in-law, Floyd Sullivan preceded him in death.He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Freda E. Smith; children, Jimmy R. (Vicki) Smith, of Harrison, Teresa S. (Phil) Phillips, of Brentwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jennifer S. (Chris) Giesy, Donnell (Matthew) McCorkle, Michael (Beth) Grooms, Stephanie (David) Cayson, and Ricky (Priscilla) Grooms; great-grandchildren, Madelynn Hicks, Savannah Hicks, Brooklyn McCorkle, Ali Grace McCorkle, Alex Cayson, Maggie Cayson, Patton Grooms, AnnaMae Grooms, and Mason Grooms; sisters, Katherine Sullivan; Christine (Earl) Brannon, Yvonne (Clyde) Little, and Stella (Arnold) Little; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the North Chapel with the Rev. Randy Bell, the Rev.
