Annie Favors

Annie Bell Ghiden Favors, 96 , peacefully passed away on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, as a resident of Consulate Health Care of Chattanooga.She was born on Dec. 11. 1914, to the union of James B. "Gene" Ghiden and Annie Mae Jackson Ghiden.She had been an active member of Missionary Ridge Church for many years and was the oldest living member. She served on various missionary boards, was a member of the church choir, Sunday school teacher and the mothers board. She was also a social worker with the Human Services Department. After retirement, Mrs. Favors spent many hours as a nursing home volunteer. She enjoyed serving and helped others throughout her lifetime.She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Favors Jr.; brothers, James, Martin, Charles "Ebb" and Thomas.Survivors include her daughter Tina (James) Player; sisters, Rosa Jones, Chicago, Ill., Clara James and Kathryn Cowan, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Jana (Wilson) Pauldin, of Brookeville, Md., and Terrad Play, of Chattanooga; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Aiden, James, Ian, Evan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and faithful friends.A sincere thank you to her dedicated caregivers and to the ones at CHC of Chattanooga that personally took time with loving and tender care to see for her needs.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Alzheimers Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Dr. # 22, Chattanooga, TN 37421-1188.Funeral services will be held in the chapel at noon Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011.Interment in Highland Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
