Louise Phillips

DOUGLASVILLE Ida Louise Phillips, 89, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, in a Douglasville hospital.She was born in Kingston, Ga., and spent most of her childhood and adult life in Chattanooga area. When she was younger she worked for Plunkett Studios and other art studios in Atlanta as a photo muralist. In her later years she worked for American Art studios doing photo restoration work.She was a gifted gardener and loved working in her yard in East Ridge. She also earned her real estate license and was an agent in Chattanooga for many years. She was a longtime member of Duncan Park Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Phillips; parents, James and Ida Carson; her brothers, Willard Carson and James T. Carson, Jr.; and sisters, Aline Hope and Doris Penley.Survivors include her children, Robin Eakin, of Douglasville, Ga., and Rebecca Vanecko, of Lexington Park, Md.; grandchildren, Elizabeth Pointer, of Phoenix City, Ala., and Phillip Eakin, of Douglasville, Ga., and Rachel, Amanda, Catherine, Andrew, and Abigail Vanecko, of Lexington Park, Md.; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Dylan.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel.Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
