Nancy Maples

Nancy Marie Buckner Maples, 71, of Brainerd passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at a local hospital.She was born on Feb. 17, 1939, grew up in Chattanooga Valley, and graduated from Chattanooga Valley High School in 1957. Nancy was retired from Bituminous Insurance Co. in Brainerd with over 20 years of service. Her passions in life were reading, caring for the elderly and sick, and her cats, Sadie and Katie. She enjoyed spending time with her son and family. Nancy will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Shull Mumm; stepfather, Robert Mumm; stepmother, Margie Buckner; husband, Gene Maples; brother, Bob Mumm; aunt, Vivian Mae "Bib" Buckner who was an integral part of her young life.Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jill Dell, of Collierville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Christia, Marissa, Alexa and R.J. Dell; father, W. Howard Buckner, of Flintstone, Ga.; brother/caregiver Fred (Kim) Mumm, of Harrison; brothers, Jim (Pat) Buckner of Flintstone, Ga., Garry (Marilyn) Buckner, of Chickamauga, Ga.; sister, Helen (Kelly) Hawkins, of Flintstone, Ga.; sister-in-law, Janice Mumm of Ringgold, Ga.; special caregiver, Amy Thurman, of Ringgold; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East, with Chaplain Christy Fisher officiating.The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until noon Friday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home & Crematory, Rossville.
