Karen Shropshire

Karen E. Shropshire, of Signal Mountain, died on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011.She was an advocate for the arts, having served on the boards of Ballet Tennessee and Signal Mountain Playhouse. Working with a team of arts supporters and friends from the Signal Mountain community, she helped establish the Mountain Arts Community Center where she served as founding director until her retirement in 2009.Born in Somerset, Ky., Karen Shropshire was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Edward Shropshire; and her father, Ralph E. Daughetee.She is survived by her daughters, Allyson Ford and her husband, Kevin, of Signal Mountain and Erin Moore and her husband, Heath, of Soddy-Daisy; four grandchildren; her mother, Charlotte Daughetee, of Chattanooga; her siblings, David Daughetee, of Cleveland, Tenn., Donna Holden, of Ringgold, Ga., Carol Roark, of Chattanooga, and Dicky Daughetee, of Harrison.A celebration of life for Karen Shropshire will be held at the Mountain Arts Community Center on Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at 5:30 pm.In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to "MACC Foundation" 809 Kentucky Ave, Signal Mountain, TN 37377 or "Uganda Children's Project" P.O.
