Lela Dolberry

Lela B. "Nanny" Jenkins Dolberry passed away peacefully at a local hospital Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011. She was a devoted wife to William Dolberry, who preceded her in death. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her generosity, sparkling smile, and generous heart. She was a caregiver and a mother to all. She was a devoted member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church in Chattanooga for 84 years. She was also preceded in death by her aunt, Beatrice Alexander and uncle, Melvin P. Jenkins. She leaves to mourn her memory, Adreia (Howard) Spann, Bronx, N.Y., Kerry Dolberry, Chattanooga, Tenn., Deatrice (Bryan) Craddock, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Aston (Janice) Alexander, Bronx, N.Y. She was the cherished grandmother, confidante and friend to Joe (xxx) Jenkins, Juanzell Jenkins, Cherish (Japerri, Mynautica, Kyla) McKibbins. Tasha (Donald) McCall, Tesha (Lorenzo) Winslow, Tameeka Spann, Howard Spann Jr., and Andre Dolberry. She was loved by Aston Alexander, Mae Jenkins, Judy (Clemmie) Benjamin, Marilyn Jenkins, Deonna (Marcus Sr.) Jenkins, Melvin Jenkins, William Jenkins, Ricky Jenkins, Teneka (Chris) Taylor, Tori (Lovest, Lorri, Corey, Miracle) Cross.Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church. Interment: Chattanooga National Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. this evening at John P. Franklin Fuenral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
