Margaret Agnew

GREENVILLE, S.C. Margaret Jane Neef Agnew, "Peggy", 91, widow of William G. Agnew, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, in Greenville, S.C., where she had lived for the past 10 years. She was the daughter of William C. and Annette S. Neef. Born and raised in Lutz, Fla., she was a graduate of the University of Tampa. She moved to Lookout Mountain following her marriage to Bill Agnew in 1946. They celebrated their 50th anniversary six months before Bill died in 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Julia M. Neef, and Carol H. Neef. Her oldest son, William G. Agnew Jr., passed away in July, 2010. His wife, Brenda A.Anderson, died in 2007.She is survived by 2 sons, Bruce D. Agnew, of Chattanooga, and Brian E. (Dianne) Agnew, of Union Springs, Ala.; a daughter, Ann A.(Steve) Stewart, of Greenville, S.C.; 13 grandchildren: Patrick Agnew, of Charlotte, N.C.; Michael Agnew, of Asheville, N.C.; John and Catherine Agnew, of Signal Mountain, Brian, Ben, Gary, and Daniel Stewart, of Greenville, S.C., and Freeman, Russell, Evan, Mitchell, and Parker Agnew of Union Springs, Ala.; She is also survived by a sister, Alice N. Hallinan, of Winter Haven, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews, including her godchild, Carolyn P. Hallinan, of Lakeland, Fla.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Mount Catholic Church, on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 10, followed by a reception in the church hall.She will be interred at National Cemetery on Bailey Avenue in a private ceremony.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Notre Dame High School, 2701 Vermont Ave., Chattanooga, TN, 37404, the Alzheimer's Association, 735 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN, 37402, or a charity of one's choice.Arrangements by Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, Greenville, S.C.
