Marvin Tallent

Marvin O. Tallent, 88, of Rossville, Ga., died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011.He was born July 27, 1922, in Chattanooga, son of the late Oscar Wilbur and Mary Christine Bledsoe Tallent. He was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church and the Chapel Sunday School Class.He was retired from Combustion Engineering after 37 years of service. Following his retirement, he was employed at Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel. He was a Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 95. He was also a member of East Lake Masonic Lodge #698 F&AM.He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Lucille, who passed away on Dec. 27, 2010.Survivors include his sons, Dennis Tallent, of Rossville and Allen (Linda) Tallent, of Louisville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jenni Williams, Greg Tallent and Sarah Tallent; great-grandchildren, Ayla Williams, Madison Williams and Parker Tallent; sister, Marjorie R. Fuson, of Ooltewah.Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating.Interment will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors.
