Harold Clemmons

Harold Wayne Clemmons, 83, entered his eternal rest on Saturday, Jan 22, 2011.Born Oct. 31, 1927, in Nashville, Harold grew up in both Nashville and Mount Juliet, Tenn. He graduated from East High School in Nashville and served in the Philippines as a TEC-4 with the Army from April 19, 1946May 1, 1947. Upon return, he began his studies at Vanderbilt University, then earned a degree in Accounting from Bowling Green College of Commerce, now a part of Western Kentucky University. He worked briefly in Frankfort, Ky., and Nashville, where he met his wife Billye Joan Welch. Billye and Harold married in 1953 and moved to Chattanooga, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. Harold began his career in Chattanooga working as an accountant for a company owned by the Siskin brothers while Billye devoted herself to raising their family. They were long term members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Billye; and brother, Charles Clemmons. He is survived by his daughter, Constance Ann (Fred) Goethel; sons, Harold "Slug" Jr. (Terrell) Clemmons and Gerald Lee (Kimberly) Clemmons; a niece, Karen King (Mike) Twitty; 13 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home, East Chapel, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27.A Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan 28, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with burial following at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Volunteers in Medicine, PO Box 81057, Chattanooga, TN 37414. or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 822 Belvoir Ave, East Ridge, TN 37412.Please share your condolences at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com.Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S.
