Jack Richardson

Jack Richardson, 93, passed into heaven Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, surrounded by family.He was a WWII veteran who helped build the Alaskan Highway. He worked as a body man for ORears Garage for many years. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to help someone. He loved and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Idella; brother, Bill; sisters, Nel Evans, Hazel Bolton, Lennie Mae Hudson; mother, Nannie Richardson; father, Roy Richardson; special brother-in-law, Ralph Evans.He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Harper and son-in-law, Shelton Cason, of Hixson whom he had lived with the past three years. He had developed a special bond with Shelton as they were together 24/7. He is also survived by daughter, Janice Brown, of Tunnel Hill, Ga., who stood by his side and helped with his care and a son, Larry Whitaker, of East Ridge. He leaves behind a sister, Eretta Shaver, of Chickamauga, GA; two grandchildren, Heather (Dan) Curry, of Hixson and Jennifer (Kevin) Glorio, of Canton, Ga.; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.We would like to thank the 2nd floor nurses at Lifecare East Ridge and Memorial Hospital.Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
