John Biggs

ETOWAH John Ronald Biggs, 70, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 28, 2011.He had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of his life before moving to Etowah in 1989. He was a charter member of Westview Baptist Church in Chattanooga and with the loving support of Linda T. Biggs, helped organize the area wide Cancer Support Group in Etowah.He retired from Combustion Engineering in 1986 after more than 21 years as a Boilermaker and was an Air Force Veteran, having served during the Vietnam era. He was also a Heart Transplant recipient in May of 1996 and was a devoted father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by all that knew him.The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff of UAB Hospitals Heart Transplant Team for all the love and support that they provided.He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Pearl Biggs and several siblings.Survivors include his children, Chris Biggs, of Ooltewah, Kellie (Don) Giles, of Hixson and Brent Biggs, of Etowah; sister, Katherine Dye, of Etowah; four grandchildren, Tyler Johnston, Blake Buckner, Mason Biggs and Braden Biggs; special friend, Linda Tatum Biggs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel with the Rev.
