Thelma Wilson

Thelma H. Wilson, 82, passed on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at a local health care facility.She retired from the city of Chattanooga Human Services Department with over 25 years of service. She was a Foster-grandparent and active in her community. She was a life-long and faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, 2305 E. Third Street where she served as a Sunday school teacher as well as a member of the Red Rose Club #1.Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wilson Sr.; parents, Cornelius Holmes and Louise Holmes Washington; brothers, George Washington, Willie Holmes and Leroy Washington.She is survived by three children, Linda (Eugene) Brazeal, Inkster, Mich., Melvina (Richard) West; and son, Clarence Wilson Jr., of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Crystal (Kelvin) Clay, Chattanooga; Alvin (Victoria) Parker Jr., Hermitage, Tenn., Robyn (Graddie) Liddell and Jennifer Brazeal, Westland, Mich.; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Xavier, Matthew, William and Melvina; siblings, Annes Williams, New York, Lewis (Shirley) Washington, Dorothy Berry, Ruth Adams, Michigan and Flora Washington, Charlotte, N.C.; and a host of nieces and nephews.Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 2305 E. Third St. with the Rev. Paul McDaniel officiating.Interment in Highland Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave.
