Jim Scott

Jim Scott, 69, of Harrison, died Friday, May 6, 2011.For many years, he was director of engineering at Singer Cobble, where he acquired many patents in his name. After leaving there, he started several businesses in the Chattanooga area. In later years, he did engineering work for several companies.An avid streetrodder all his life, he had numerous streetrods over the years. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, but most of all his two granddaughters. He cultivated and had many friends in his lifetime.Preceding him in death were his parents, Martha and John Scott Sr.Surviving are his wife, Nadine Scott; son, J. D. Scott, of Harrison; daughter, Marcy Scott, of Key Largo, Fla.; granddaughters, Stacy Jean and Samantha Dalynn, of Harrison; brothers: John (Alice) Scott, of Soddy-Daisy, Delton (Cynthia) Scott, of Ooltewah, Gerald (Joanne) Scott, of South Pittsburg, Benjamin (Dawn) Scott, of Ringgold; sister, Joy (Ron) Hawksworth, of Harrison; and many friends.The family will receive friends at Turner Funeral Home, Highway 58 Chapel, 5-7 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. Monday.The funeral will be at 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Andrew Givens officiating.Interment will be in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens, Kimball, Tenn., witha committal service at 12:30 p.m. CDT Tuesday.Arrangements are by Turner Funeral Home, Highway 58 Chapel, 622-3171.
