Katharine Watkins

Katharine "Kay" Watkins, 91, of East Ridge, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at her residence.Born to the late Lloyd William Platt Sr. and Mamie Ethel Mills Platt in 1920, she had spent the greater part of her life on Missionary Ridge and was a member of First Presbyterian Church for many years. Mrs. Watkins loved flowers and watching birds and truly loved her family.She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Watkins; son, Richard A. Watkins; and brother, Lloyd William Platt Jr.Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Carl Woody, of East Ridge; grandchildren, Chris (Sheila) Woody, Gainsville, Ga., Kim (Luke) Roberson, Washington, D.C., Karen (Andy) Scaboo, Raleigh, N.C., Kathy (Trey) Sansom, Knoxville, David and Daniel Watkins, Fairview, Ky.; daughter-in-law, Sue Watkins, Fairview, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Garrett and Katherine Woody.Graveside services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev.
