Desalena Renita "Desa" Cousin, 49, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at a local hospital. She was employed with Hamilton County School System.She was preceded in death by her grandfather, the Rev. Robert Sims; grandmother, Odessa Sims and uncle, Robert L. Sims.She is survived by her children, Mashunnda M. (Dewayne) Payton-Beard and Bradley J. Cousin; mother, Evangelist Florida Vanzant; father, Thomas Ervin; grandchild, Tianna M. Fair; ex-husband, Early Cousin III; brothers, Vincent and Kelvin Ervin; aunts, Roselyn Miller, Jacqueline Simmons; uncle, Lavaughn Sims.Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, in the chapel with Pastor A. Rowan officiating. Interment: Highland Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. this evening at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
