Curnel Heath

Curnel L. "Smokey" Heath Sr., 93, passed away on November 2, 2011, in Chickamauga, Ga. Curnel Sr. was a WWII veteran and retired from Chattanooga Glass Company. Serving in Gods Army as a Deacon at the Second St. James Baptist Church and a very active deep sea fisherman.He was preceded in death by his parents, General and Sarah Heath; son, Curnel L. Heath Jr.; brother-in-law, James McClure Jr. and son-in-law, Charles L. Meadows.Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Luversia Heath; daughter, Nyoka Meadows; grandchildren, Curnel L. Heath II, Schuylar Heath, Andrea (Ronald) Jackson, Charles (Constance) Meadows, Anthony (Angela) Meadows, Kimberly (Mark) Colen; adopted grandson, Curtis (Telesa) Brooks; ten great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at National Cemetery with the Rev. James Meriweather and the Rev. Archie Hannah officiating.The body will lie in state after noon today with the family receiving friends from 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
