DUCKTOWN James Avery "Bodie" Brown, 62, passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family and friends. James was the son of the late Franklin Virgil Brown and Hester Marie Crawford Brown. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Leroy Brown, Frank Brown, Glen Brown, and Everett Brown.James is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sybil Payne Brown; one daughter, Becky Cearley and her husband, Robbie, which he referred to as his "son by choice"; three sisters, Imogene Hamby, Janette Houston, and Patsy Simonds; four brothers, Danny Brown, Billy Paul Brown, Johnny Mack Brown, and Garland Brown. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Freedom Baptist Church located on McJunkin Road in Turtletown, Tenn., with the Rev. Kenneth Payne officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
