James Ingle

James Troy Ingle, 79, lifelong resident of Ooltewah and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dear friend went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, after a brief illness at the hospice unit of Memorial Hospital.He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Ed Ingle; mother, Mae Bell Willerson Ingle; and brothers, J.V. and Hershel Ingle.As with everything he did in life James faced death with courage, dignity and grace. He knew that his ultimate citizenship was not here but in heaven where he now resides. He is a godly saint and the heavenly host has welcomed him home while God smiles down on all of us who knew him here. He is enjoying his home coming and we look forward to seeing him again at that great family reunion to come!Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Catherine Chandler Ingle; and sons Jimmy (Judy) Ingle, of Ringgold, Eddie (Kathy) Ingle, of Ooltewah, Donald (Betty) Ingle, of Ringgold, Ga.; and daughter, Donna (John) Ingle Morse, of Ooltewah; sister, Edna Ingle Barrett, of Cleveland, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him very much.He was a member and Sunday School Teacher at Calvary Life Fellowship Church in Ooltewah, where he loved to sing and to praise the Lord. He was known for his resounding Amens.He was a brick mason for many years, first with The Garland Sherman Co., then as a partner with Crawford Brothers Co. and finally as an owner of Ingle Masonry. After completing his career as a brick mason he bought a truck and was an independent cross country truck driver before being employed as a driver by McKee Bakery. After retiring from McKee he worked part-time as a driver for the City of Collegedale. In his younger days he was also a member of the Marine Reserves.James, or as he was known by many "Tin Head", loved nothing more than spending time with his family at home and at church. He and Catherine were regular volunteers at the Collegedale Life Care Center where you could find them visiting, helping and entertaining the residents there. They were avid motorcyclists and up until just the past few months were active riders. James enjoyed caring for horses and was always ready to entertain the grandchildren and any other children around with horse rides or simply allowing them to help him with the feedings. James and Catherine could be seen often at the local gospel and bluegrass singings where almost everyone knew them.James will be missed but never forgotten!The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Memorial CVICU and Memorial Hospice for their kindness to our father and to us as he made his transition.Services to celebrate his life well lived will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 9, 2011, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, Valley View Chapel officiated by Pastor Bob Willerson of Calvary Life Fellowship Church.Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2011 at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.Please share your thoughts and memories online at www.ChattanoogaValleyViewChapel.com.Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home, Valley View Chapel, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
