Lorane Shelton

CLEVELAND Lorane Baker Shelton, 93, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2011. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church and served as a greeter for many years. She graduated from Bradley Central High School and Tennessee Wesleyan College. She began her teaching career in the Bradley County School System and retired from the Cleveland City School System in 1975. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles David "Dave" Shelton; son-in-law, Richard Allen "Dickie" Norton; parents, James Owen Baker and Icye Gilbreath Baker; and sister, Margaret Baker Crabtree.Survivors include her daughter, Janice Shelton Norton, of Ooltewah; grandsons, David Shelton Norton and wife, Molly, of Cleveland; Daniel Shelton Norton and wife, Amber, of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Richard Carter Norton and Robert Hudson Norton, both of Cleveland; along with several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Kilbourne officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Jonathan Schultz, Michael Brock, Jake Shelton, Michael Shelton, Rob Schultz, William "Chip" Whitaker and Bill Chandler. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at the funeral home prior to the service.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation, P.O.
