Mary Hawkins

Mary Ann Hawkins, 74, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, in a local hospice care facility.She was formerly employed by Erlanger Hospital and was a member of Thankful Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by son, Gerald Columbus Sanford; great-grandson, Marlin Oattes Jr.; parents, James and Ella Shade.Survivors: husband, Jeffery Hawkins; daughters, Myra Sanford, Diana (Michael) Watt, Melanie (Reginald) Elder, Carla (Darren) Ford, all of Chattanooga; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; stepsister, Geneva Long, of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Janet Bone, Ellen Caudle, Helen Curtis; brother-in-law, Michael (Madelyn) Hawkins, all of Chattanooga; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; special friends, Gwendolyn Chunn, Diana Washington, Tinae Morris and other friends.The body will lie in state after noon today at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel with Pastor Oscar Lockhart Sr. officiating.Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery.
